How the studio handles your information
This describes WallMock Studio as it works today.
What stays on your device
- In the rooms WallMock publishes, your artwork is read and your images are made in your browser, on your device. Your artwork files and the finished images are not uploaded to WallMock.
- To show and make these images, the studio downloads the room images and the renderer from WallMock.
- Your artworks and finished images stay only in the open studio tab, for this session. Moving between Rooms, Favourites, Frame setups and Results keeps them; refreshing or closing the tab clears them, so download the images you want to keep. They are not written to your browser's storage.
- The browser keeps only small working notes that contain no image or artwork: the arrangement numbers of your sets (in this browser), and, for the open tab, the reference of a batch in progress so its credits are settled correctly after an interruption.
- An earlier version of the studio kept finished images in the browser. They are no longer shown, and signing out in that browser removes them.
What WallMock holds for your account
- Your email address, so you can sign in with a one-time code. Codes have 8 digits and stop working after 10 minutes.
- The display name and shop or studio name you choose to enter in Profile & settings. Both are optional.
- Your favourite rooms, each room's saved looks (canvas or framed print, frame, mat, size and position), your frame setups, your saved collections and any frame finishes you create.
- Feedback you send from Help & feedback: the message, what it's about, the optional ease rating, whether we may reply to your sign-in email, and the studio page and version it was sent from. It is linked to your account, so it isn't anonymous. No artwork, image or log is sent with it.
- Your plan and its billing status, and your credit balance. When you make a clean image, the studio sends the server a one-way code for that image, worked out in your browser from a fingerprint of the artwork and the chosen settings, so an image you already paid for is never charged twice. The code doesn't contain the artwork.
- When the studio checks where a product fits, it sends only the artwork's proportions (a width and a height), not the image.
Earlier wall photos (only if you added one)
Adding your own wall photos is no longer offered. If your account has an earlier wall photo, that photo is kept in your account until you delete it. Its images are made on WallMock's servers, only for artworks you allow; such an artwork is uploaded only for that purpose, and the uploaded artwork and its images are kept for 24 hours, after which an automatic cleanup removes them.
How long account data is kept
- Your saved rooms, looks, frame setups, collections, favourites, profile and frame finishes stay in your account until you delete them or close your account.
- Most favourited and personalised room suggestions use your favourite rooms only as described in Profile & settings → Room suggestions. Your favourites count towards Most favourited only if you turn on “Contribute my favourites to community popularity” (off by default), and only as an anonymous count: other customers see room rankings, never who chose what, your artworks or your saved looks. Turning it off, removing a favourite or closing your account removes your contribution; rankings refresh within about five minutes. Personalised suggestions read only your own favourites, can be turned off at any time, and never change your saved favourites, frames or looks.
- Feedback you sent is kept until you close your account; closing it deletes your feedback.
- A sign-in lasts up to 30 days and is renewed while you use the studio. Signing out ends it.
- Each sign-in records the network address and browser it was made from (the address your connection reaches us from, and your browser's standard identification text). Signing out, or signing out your other devices, deletes that record at once. A sign-in that expires stops working immediately; its record is deleted the next time your browser presents it, or by an automatic cleanup that runs about once a minute while the studio is running.
- Database backups taken while such records existed can still contain them; they are not removed from a backup until that backup itself is deleted.
Who else is involved
- Payments run on Stripe's own checkout and billing pages. WallMock never receives your card details.
- Sign-in codes are sent by our email provider, Resend, from hello@wallmock.com.
- Your artwork is not sent to AI or image-generation services, and it is not used to train AI models.
- The studio loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
Cookies and request counters
- A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in.
- To protect the service, the server keeps request counters. Requests to the sign-in service are also counted per network address; that address is kept with its counter until about 24 hours after the last request, when the same cleanup deletes it. Other counters are keyed by a one-way hash; they stop counting after about a minute and are deleted at a later check.
- A browser cookie with a random value (no information about you or your device) helps keep the free clean downloads to a fair number per browser.
- If you open a referral link, a cookie holds the referral code for up to 30 days; it is read once, when you first sign in, and then removed.
Keeping free downloads and referrals fair
- Each email inbox can receive the free clean downloads once. To check this, WallMock keeps a keyed one-way hash of the inbox (dots and "+" aliases count as the same inbox), never the address itself. This hash is kept after an account is closed, so the free allowance is not given twice.
- Temporary or disposable email services can't be used to sign up.
- Each free-download or referral decision is recorded with a short reason and keyed one-way hashes of the network (the first part of the address) and of the browser cookie, never the address or the cookie itself. These records are deleted after 90 days.
- For a referral reward after a payment, WallMock compares the payment card's fingerprint from the payment provider with the referrer's, to stop self-referrals. Only a keyed one-way hash of it is stored.
Closing your account
- Use Profile & settings, then Close account. If your subscription still renews, cancel renewal first in Billing & plans (Manage subscription). Closing waits until the payment provider confirms the subscription has ended; until then you keep access and can withdraw the request.
- Once closing starts it cannot be undone. You are signed out everywhere, and your saved rooms (including any earlier wall photos and their images), setups, favourites, frame profiles and profile are erased. Closing also removes, from the browser you close it in, any images an earlier version of the studio kept there. Another browser keeps such copies until you sign out there or clear the site's data.
- If you ever subscribed or started a checkout, your email address and your subscription and payment records are kept after closing.
- Deletions and closures are also written to a separate deletion log that is kept apart from our backups, and the studio applies that log again every time it starts. If we ever restore from a backup, our restore procedure checks that the log is up to date before the studio reopens, so that erased content is erased again. This relies on that procedure being followed; it is not an absolute guarantee.
